1 Thessalonians 2:8 “Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our very lives.”
Befriending is simply spending time with a lonely person to show them they are valued and loved - Loved by us and loved by God. Befriending can involve going to someone’s house for a cup of tea & chat, playing a board game, reading with them, or praying with them - Befriending looks like friendship! But it is slightly different to an informal friendship as it involves pairing a lonely person (referred to our service) with a volunteer (or group of volunteers) from the church. This means we get to Befriend people we might not normally meet.
To start this service in our area we need volunteers!
You could get involved if...
you enjoy meeting new people and getting to know them
you want to share the gospel in a sensitive & effective way
you are a Christian & regularly attend Hebron Evangelical Church
you can spare a little time each week (approx. 1hour)
We will be having an informal meeting to discuss the service, where you can ask questions, help to design the service and get more info about what being a volunteer would involve.
Come along to the meeting Saturday 16th Feb at 10:30-11:30am
